GREEN TOURMALINE 6,15ct

Turmalines were first discovered by Dutch traders in the late 1600’s or early 1700’s. At the time, these green tourmalines were assumed to be emeralds. It wasn’t until the 1800s when scientists realized that these stones were their own species of mineral. Tourmaline comes from the word «turmali» that means «mixed colors stone». Its crossed veins give it a very attractive touch. Its triangular cross-sectional shape is unique; no other gem has such a shape. This gem is more valuable as a jewel than as a collector’s item, because its brilliance and luminosity resemble emerald.

GREEN TOURMALINE PROPERTIES & LOCATION

LOCATION

In Nigeria, the coltan pegmatite deposits are the source of various precious and semi-precious stones such as aquamarine and tourmaline. Coltan is a relatively rare metallic mineral in nature. These sources are found in Nassarawa State near the Jos Plateau, as well as in various areas of southeastern Nigeria. There is small-scale mining of these minerals, which also includes the extraction of stones such as sapphire, ruby, emerald, topaz, garnet, and amethyst, among others.
